Jackie Boor
Jackie Boor is an award-winning author, speech and debate coach, and seasoned mediator, facilitator, trainer, and civic engagement specialist. Her exceptional communication skills, plus an appreciation for diverse perspectives, is well-reflected in nearly three decades of work with, for instance, private businesses, nonprofit organizations, community groups, and a variety of city, county, state and federal agencies. With a keen eye for detail, Jackie’s lifelong philosophy embraces the notion that difficult things take time but impossible things just take a little longer.
Mediator, Facilitator and Trainer
Mediator, facilitator and trainer for Lang & Associates, workplace, family and community two-party disputes (2007 to present); founding program manager and lead mediator for the Sacramento Mediation Center Multiple Party Dispute Resolution Service, specializing in interest-based conflict resolution and problem-solving strategies related to discrimination, crime, blight, nuisance and land use (1999-2007); co-facilitated with colleague Carol Wright numerous community stakeholder conversations and forums including the 2016 Sacramento Public Safety
Best Practices Forums; co-created with colleague Jeanette Sartain “PeaceMoves: Working with Conflict,” an innovative workshop designed to improve non-violent communication skills for re-entry prison inmates; POST-certified community partnership trainer for the Northern California Regional Community Policing Institute (1996-2003); and from 1999 to present, Basic and Advanced Mediation Skills trainer for numerous groups ranging from private business to federal government agencies.

Organization and Community Development
A Sacramento resident since 1975, represented Sacramento County District II on the Sacramento Transportation and Air Quality Collaborative, a multi-stakeholder organization dedicated to addressing long-term issues and policies related to air quality, transportation, land use and social equity, and was instrumental in creating citizen engagement component (2001-05); founding member of Sacramento ENRICHES, a children’s health and safety initiative, and wrote grants, developed promotional strategies and facilitated numerous group activities including a year-long Learning Circle Project funded by the Sierra Health Foundation focused on cultivating social capital (1998-2005); neighborhood organizer and special projects consultant for SAFE STREETS, a nonprofit community empowerment and grassroots mobilization organization (1994-98).
